TWO MEMBERS LEAVE THE HOSPITALITY HOUSE BOARD AFTER YEARS OF SERVICE

Jan Lentz came to us from John Knox Presbyterian Church and served on the Hospitality House Board of Directors for three years, two years in the capacity of board President.  Jan was instrumental in expanding the hours that Hospitality House is open by recruiting and training volunteers to work in the office Monday and Wednesday mornings.  Jan provided exemplary leadership to all, such as sharing overnight chaperone duties or encouraging us in all fundraising activities, and spent many hours in the community promoting Hospitality House and its mission.  Jan shared, “  I am blessed so much by the women’s appreciation and overwhelming thank yous to the staff and volunteers who offer home, help, and hope through Hospitality House while they stabilize their lives by finding housing and jobs.”  Jan serves her church as a liaison to volunteer opportunities in the community.  She loves to encourage others to use their God-given gifts!

Maria Balsiger is a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church and served on the Hospitality House Board of Directors for five years, three years in the capacity of board Secretary.   Maria was a major participant in the planning and execution of all major fundraisers and served as the chair of the annual spring fling dinner and auction for the past three years.  Whether engaging students or encouraging fundraiser participation, her ‘can do’ attitude was instrumental in promoting Hospitality House to her church and the greater community.  Maria said “My favorite memories are of sharing meals and overnights with the women of the House.”   Maria is involved in faith formation in her church and is chair for St. Francis of Assisi’s Sister Parish (El Salvador) committee along with other Liturgical responsibilities.  She has traveled in mission to both El Salvador and Tanzania in the last two years.  She also volunteers as a soccer coach.

Jan & Maria, we will miss your loving presence but wish you many blessings!
