2015 Volunteer Luncheon

The Board of Directors and Staff of Hospitality House hosted a luncheon at Lake Burien Presbyterian Church (LBPC) on Saturday, November 7th to thank the volunteers for the wonderful work they do.  Hospitality House provides a home away from home for homeless women with the help of hundreds of volunteers each year.  Community and church volunteers prepare meals, staff the office, make repairs, serve as an overnight weekend chaperone and share their areas of expertise with the ladies.  Highlighting our 15 years in operation, Sally Mackey and  Don Weber, just two of the many who supported Hospitality House in the planning stages were in attendance.  Sally Mackey reminisced about the long process involved in bringing Hospitality House to fruition including reading testimony that the LBPC Pastor, she and others gave in support of a homeless women’s shelter in South King County in 1999/2000.

We honored Carla Boutwell, a very special volunteer, who has coordinated and worked in the overnight weekend chaperone program for ten years.  Many thanks to Erika for sharing her personal experience at Hospitality House as a graduate from the program.  For those volunteers who came to the luncheon, we were so happy you came.  For those volunteers who were not able to come to the luncheon, we are sorry we did not have the opportunity to thank you personally.

We so appreciate all you do for Hospitality House!!
